Did you attempt connecting the pump to the CPU fan? It should be the one at the top of the board, around the 2:00 minute point.

Occasionally these parts arrive damaged, which isn't your responsibility. Sending them back and ordering a replacement could work well.

Verify the USB connection to the pump regularly; occasionally it may not fully engage, missing the final millimeter.
