Hi, I recently upgraded my PC's CPU and motherboard, leaving everything else unchanged. I continued using the same Corsair H60 water cooler for two years; after a long day at work, I returned home and powered up the system. Suddenly, the AIO pump on the motherboard stopped working, and the CPU temperatures stayed high—often reaching 100 degrees instead of dropping to around 70. I thought the all-in-one liquid cooler might be the issue and switched it to Intel's standard model, hoping it would keep the CPU temps down. However, the problem persisted: the fans increased but didn’t lower the temperatures effectively. I’m now really confused and worried about what’s happening with my machine. Everything seems fine yesterday and today during the morning, but now I have no idea how to fix this. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

If you skipped the thermal paste, do it now. If you used it, your pump is probably dead, and the stock cooler won’t help much—it’s just meeting basic requirements. Which CPU model are you running? That determines what cooler you’ll need.

I'm sure a stock Intel cooler isn't sufficient for that chip. I'd suggest an Evo 212 as a bare minimum. Possibly something like a Peerless Assassin, Fuma / Mugen, or similar. Honestly, tales like yours are the reason I avoid liquid cooling. Edited September 18, 2022 by An0maly_76 Updated with more info
