I have a Ryzen 5 3600, GTX 1660s, B450 Tomahawk Max, and 16GB RAM at 3200MHz. I'm playing Fortnite on competitive settings in QHD. I considered upgrading to a better CPU for higher FPS, but saw a Ryzen 7 5700X3D on AliExpress for $170. I'm unsure if it's genuine and whether it would actually improve performance. that 5700x3d is essentially the top choice for AM4. If AliExpress has the 5800x3d for less than $200, it could be worth getting it instead. If the 5600x is too expensive in your area, you might sell that 3600 for a much lower price, making the upgrade more affordable and saving time while you wait for a better GPU.
Fortnite isn't necessarily CPU intensive; the real value lies in upgrading your graphics card for better performance.
If you're not getting a GPU upgrade with the CPU, it might make sense to hold off. I prefer the 5700x3d, though the 1660 super you mentioned could limit performance. I'd wait until you can upgrade both the CPU and GPU together. Updating just one part won't make much difference.
