Hey everyone, I messed up and accidentally placed TIM on my CPU pins. I’m not sure if I’m alone in this situation, but how do I fix it? The photo isn’t great, but it’s clear what happened.

You can lightly moisten a paper towel with isopropyl alcohol and then wipe it gently. A dry towel will follow, helping to remove the stain.

Are you considering using surgical spirits? I’m more concerned about the raised areas in the middle—it’s stuck between them and I’m unsure how to remove everything. I tried a coffee filter to extract some, but for the rest I’m not sure what to do.

We've all experienced this, and anyone claiming otherwise hasn't properly upgraded their CPUs. Soak a Q-tip in isopropyl or rubbing alcohol at 91% or higher (70% works but takes longer to dry), then lightly dab or wipe the affected spots. Let it rest for about 30 seconds, then gently pat with a microfiber cloth and allow drying. Repeat as needed. It's not dead, Jim.

Use a toothbrush, wet it with alcohol, and lightly scrape the area around the bristles where there are only a few strands. Be gentle and avoid pressing hard; take your time.

according to google apparently that's the same thing I wouldn't be too worried about the bits you can't get out. If the CPU works, it's no issue. Thermal paste isn't conductive
