Hardware: GTX 1070 with boost clocks, i5 7600K running at 5.1GHz (~70°C), 16GB DDR4 2666MHz memory, Z170i Pro gaming board, Sandisk Ultra II SSD. Performance: Played at 1440p with maximum settings.

Yes, it might be a bottleneck, but I'm not entirely sure what you're asking. Edit: SC is now working well since the server isn't the issue anymore. Your own device is now the main limitation for your frames. As seen, SC remains in alpha and performance hasn't reached its final state.

However at 1440p it still feels slow for a 1080p setup—it's pretty unusual, and those aiming for a high-end 'dream PC' might want to reconsider their CPU choice.

Absolutely, that should be the direction, but people shouldn't rush into a dream SC PC just yet. As I mentioned earlier, this is still in alpha phase, and they're focusing more on adding features than purely optimizing performance right now. It's great that object container streaming has improved our speed significantly so far. Previously, performance was mostly limited by the server side.
