CPU performance is operating significantly under its intended capacity.
Hello, I have a query. Your OC'd CPU has been functioning well for nearly a year. You own an i5 4690K at 4.2ghz. While exploring your basement, you noticed it drops to 60° at idle and caps around 3.7ghz. After a quick reboot, it returned to the usual 40° and consistently stays below 3.7ghz in BIOS. Windows and tools like CPU-Z, AIDA64, or CAM all display 4.2, but in-game performance remains unchanged. Recently, it stopped idling at the standard 800MHz and now idles at 3.7ghz with only 6-9% load. I ran several stress tests and the temperatures stayed below 55-60°C, which is unusual. Could anyone suggest some advice? Your CPU uses a Hyper-212 Evo cooler and has been in your PC since December 2018.
The available plan isn't standard unless you employ a specific method to create it. Opt for the balanced option instead, so Windows can reduce the CPU speed to 800MHz during idle periods.
Your PC has resumed operation at 4.2ghz after a brief power-off.
