I plan to detach an iMac from its case or insert tubing to circulate coolant for the CPU and GPU, then repurpose it as a home server to move my bananaPro setup onto a more capable platform. I’ll try Mac Sever first, but I might eventually abandon its restrictions and replace it with a custom Linux distribution. In the meantime, I’ve discovered that using an application could boost CPU performance—though I’m unsure if turbo boost truly increases clock speed or just masks thermal limits. If overclocking actually works, the added cooling and reduced throttling could help the machine run closer to its maximum potential. Anyone have more details on Mac CPU overclocking?
