I am currently adjusting my i7 4770K for extra performance, using the preset with my ASUS B85M-G mATX Board and Deepcool Maelstrom 120K Liquid Cooler. It’s running at 4.3GHz at 1.2V. I’ve experimented with the voltage and have successfully lowered it to 1.118V, which CPUID confirms as 1.120V. During stress testing with Prime95 blend for over an hour, the highest temperature reached was 85°C, while idle stayed at 33°C. I’m checking if these settings are safe, especially since I’ve recently replaced the thermal paste and cleaned the system. I also noticed some stuttering in BF4, usually every 5-10 minutes, but it doesn’t happen all the time—it sometimes stutters once before returning to normal.

What is your room temperature? The typical setting is around 22°C or 72°F. For each degree rise in ambient temperature, your CPU performance will increase accordingly.

Which version of Prime95 do you have? Versions from 27.7 to 29.4 include "AVX" support, which could heavily strain the 4770K. The latest release at 29.8 lets you turn off all AVX features.

According to Intel's datasheets, TDP and thermal specs are confirmed "without AVX" usage.

Check the CPU on your own or via a service such as silicon lottery (search online), then swap the thermal paste to something like Nt-h1.
