I overclocked my i5 8600k to 4.5ghz at 1.2v. Its always at 4.5ghz at idle and in game and im wondering if there is a way to drop the frequency when not using it and having max frequency in game. Thx

The Windows Power Settings appear to be set for maximum performance. Please verify and adjust it according to your preference. I adjusted it to balanced, which results in a frequency of 1.2GHz at idle, but during gaming it only reaches 3.6 to 4.5GHz.

That's typical, its increasing rate is necessary.

You can just visit the power settings while playing on your computer, choose maximum performance, and revert to a balanced setting when you're not gaming.

You can just adjust the power settings on your computer while gaming, turning it up for maximum performance and then returning to a balanced setting when you're not playing.
