I’ve observed lately that during idle (30W, 1% load) my 14900KF tends to get quite warm (50-60°C). I know the 13th/14th Intel CPUs usually run a bit hotter, but with my 13900KF using the same cooler, my idle temperatures stayed between 25-35°C. After switching to the 14900KF, those idle temps remained similar. Only recently have I noticed much higher idle temps (checking monthly) and then when usage rises slightly to 10% load/100W, it climbs to around 70°C. Interestingly, under load—like gaming or benchmarking—I see temperatures between 70-80°C without any throttling. The temps while the system is running seem normal, staying in the 70-80 range and never dropping below that. My cooler is the DeepCool LT720, which has worked well for the last two years. Recently I had a PSU that sounded very loud and vibrated. Could this have caused damage to my cooler or CPU? That seems like the most likely explanation, even though it feels unusual. I’ve ordered an ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III Pro 420 because my old cooler might be aging and could fail. Since it’s from Amazon, I can return it if it doesn’t help. I’ve re-applied thermal paste, reinstalled the contact plate, cleaned the radiator and fans thoroughly, but nothing seems to lower the temps.

Are you sure your system information is current? The 13th and 14th generation Intel CPUs have a microcode problem that has been fixed through recent BIOS releases.
