CPU OC on b85
CPU OC on b85
Hi there,
I'm using a gigabyte b85-d2v motherboard with my pentium g3260, which isn't unlocked. I'm planning to upgrade to an i5 4690k and was wondering if it's possible to overclock the CPU on this board. A forum thread suggested it's feasible, though not as smooth as on a z97 board. Could I try overclocking with the i5 4690k to around 4.3 ghz? I have a hyper 212x cooler and a 500w power supply from Antec. My GPU is a GTX 960 2 GB, if you're interested.
Thanks for your time!
The 960 and the 4690k behave quite consistently, so boosting them isn't necessary unless you're trying to show off your overclock. I wouldn't suggest overclocking this board; instead, consider skipping the extra $100 and opting for a better one if you aim for more stability.
