Some folks thought it wasn't worth the effort, while others believed it had a big impact. I recall someone mentioning a 5-degree drop on their 3950x, something I saw a while back. I don’t think the cost is too high, so should I give it a shot? I’m aiming for better thermals to extend CPU life and possibly improve OC stability. Edit: With a 5600x @4.8ghz and an nh-d15s, temps can exceed 70°C under full load—my concern seems to be the heat transfer from CPU to cooler.
In stress tests, 70°C is considered "cold" by most standards. It won’t harm your chip and won’t void the warranty if your CPU is already at that temperature during heavy use. Going above 85-90°C under load might be a concern, but it’s unlikely to be worth pursuing.
Just go straight without fussing with the CPU, believe it. If I had an AMD chip, I’d test the direct water cooling concept.
I’m motivated because it’s affordable and it’s something I’d like to explore. I want to gain hands-on experience with this. Would you consider running a test on an older CPU before using it on your 5600X?

70c is considered cool relative to most people's expectations, but if you want high-frequency performance, consider seeking cooling methods to bring temperatures below 50c. This would move you closer to ambient, sub-ambient, or even zero—though power consumption becomes a big factor. Higher temps can boost CPU speed, but at this stage, direct die water cooling or simple water-to-die systems may push temperatures above 50c.
