Hello for some reason even on idel my cpu is around the 60-68 temp. My gaming temp is literally about the same it goes to 60-75. I know the gaming temp is fine but I cant figure out why the idel is high. I did download msi Dragon center due to my motherboard being a msi. No matter what pre made fans settings i do or even a fan curve it stays the same. Here is my specs. Processor Intell i7-10700k 3.8ghz 8 core ( Stock have not over clocked or mess with the bios besides using the fan curve on dragon center) Motherboard: MSI 590 pro wifi (MS-7D09) Cpu Cooler: H60I RGB Pro XT Ram :Vengeance RGB pro DDR 4 3600 Graphic Card : Nivida 3060 Founders Case: Corsair iCue 220T Airflow Midtower Smart case black ( Not the glass mine has the vents in front)

Idle periods aren't very important if your load temperatures are normal. Temperatures between 60-68°C won't harm your CPU. Also, keep in mind that HWMonitor provides unreliable data; HWInfo64 offers more accurate readings and is the better choice.

In reality, your idle temperatures are significantly below 60°C, likely due to the chip displaying 64 instead of 60. This might result from inconsistent thermal paste spread or a defective component.

To reduce idle temperatures, ensure the C states are activated in the BIOS. Intel CPUs perform well during idle periods only if all low-power C states are correctly enabled. Your package power usage is excessive, contributing to extra heat generation.

The situation remains similar. I'm okay with the current temperature, provided it doesn't cause any harm.

Is it simple to complete this task? I'm new, I have an MSI motherboard, so it might be different from just clicking buttons. Do I need to find the right settings for me?

Your HWiNFO image indicates that the C states are active. The issue stems from background processes consuming resources and raising idle temperatures. Check Task Manager, select the CPU section, and review running tasks to identify inefficient software. When not in use, your cores typically stay at 99% utilization in the C7 mode. Your screenshot reveals just 30.3%, a significant contrast.

I removed some Asus components from my previous setup. The motherboard and ASRock software are now running at 38 to 40. It seems those changes might have caused issues. (This was a fresh Redux build, but I swapped out the board and used cheaper parts with a local store.) Even though I kept the old motherboard hardware, it still worked.
