SPECS Motherboard features an i7 GIGABYTE Z690 Aorus Ultra and an i9 processor. The i9 previously worked but required several restarts to activate. RAM is functioning properly in another system, using the same slot, cable, monitor, and HDMI port. The power supply from Corsair RM1000e operates correctly in a previous build. The GPU from GTX 1050 Ti works fine on another system with identical connections. During setup, I repeatedly pressed the power button for about 50 attempts before it finally started. After that, the new board (I7 12700) worked perfectly. However, the Gigabyte board still shows a VGA light during debugging with the i9, while the ASUS Z790 Plus WiFi board shows no such indicator. In both cases, the i9 runs without issues, but the Gigabyte board has persistent problems with power and display. Peripherals remain invisible—no lights, no signals, and I’ve reconfigured everything multiple times.

It isn't an F-screw, so it needs an IGPU. Disconnect the GPU and insert the monitor cable into the mainboard, then restart.

I’m sorry, I got it wrong. It’s a KF issue—I was checking the wrong part on the PC part picker. I tried that in case it might help, but even with a GPU connected to the motherboard, there’s no VGA light. When I start up, I see a quick CPU red light and a RAM light, which then disappear and stay on.

the 20$ gap is why I usually suggest non F CPUs—it helps with troubleshooting. Have you tried using the GPU in the second PCIe slot? Or does it only support one? Does the new board work with the 12700 CPU? That unit should include an integrated GPU and let you boot with a monitor connected. You can experiment freely and test what works best. Just avoid swapping internal PSU cables between units. You can use your 12700 to update both BIOS versions, etc.

attempted the second slot but no new 13th gen i5 available for testing today. I’m checking if it’s a 13th gen CPU or if the GPU is acting strangely with the CPU. I’ll test using the 12700 right now. Got more thermal paste and a pad today. Ordered a fresh PSU for this purpose—I already had an extra but without the second 12V CPU, the new board requires two CPU connections. I couldn’t locate my existing power cable and didn’t want to mix things up by buying new parts. I’m mainly keeping it simple because I got the extra just in case the CPU fails.

The Z boards represent the premium chipset. Not every unit requires two EPS cables, and it should function with just one on the right side. Most 1000W power supplies typically include two EPS cables, though some 850W models may have fewer. Check the product descriptions when purchasing for more details.

Thank you for the details. Based on what I understand, it seems the instructions mention using both components for the ASUS motherboard. Let me know if you need further clarification.

It's about the gigabyte board. We're checking if i9 works and seeing how the i7 performs on the ASUS board to confirm if the GPU is displaying images on the IGPG without a dedicated GPU. Since you already have two complete sets, we can pinpoint the issue now or confirm it's the board itself, not just the 13900kf. If something isn't working, proceed with an RMA for the faulty unit.

After numerous restarts, it finally functions. I kept restarting until it worked.
