CPU heat issues
CPU heat issues
Following the installation of my new CPU, I applied the thermal paste included with it and noticed it was liquid. I also purchased a replacement fan but it didn't fit correctly. After installing the new fan, I used the stock one inside it. During gaming, I observed around 50°C idle and 70°C during operation. Eventually, after a few hours, it overheated and shut down. This occurred twice, so I left it undisturbed until the next morning. Later, I removed all the thermal paste and reapplied the liquid-looking thermal paste. When I turned it on, the screen failed to display, and I powered off the PC within a minute. After removing the CPU, it was extremely hot, requiring cooling before handling.
update: I put in my old cpu i3-4130 and used the stock fan from the i7, and it works at 35-40c, my old cpu has a different thermal paste on it and it's working fine, so is it the thermal paste that's the problem?
So you have a fresh CPU and a new fan installed. What do those changes mean?
