Some 300s and 400s motherboards aren't compatible with the 5000's CPU right away. You'll have to reinstall your previous chip to make it work.

If you're sure about it, use a razor blade to remove the paste, applying just the force of the blade without adding pressure.

For the thermal paste removal, the first thought is to use a soft-bristled toothbrush with some safe solvent, like rubbing alcohol. Regarding the BIOS upgrade, it's definitely important for compatibility with a CPU that came after the motherboard was built. However, you'll need to reinstall your old CPU.

Once you retrieve the previous version, proceed to update the BIOS. If this is your first time, consider researching online thoroughly. Since the board is outdated, you might not be able to immediately switch to the newest version—try flashing older releases first. Always do your homework, as incorrect steps could render the board unusable.

Lotus10101's concept seems superior, I haven't worked with pinned CPUs much lately. The pins are so fine now that a bristle binding could be problematic.

I've been experimenting and believe I'm advancing toward the edge, though it's a slow process.

It's better to make gradual improvements rather than rushing and risking a complete failure.

I’ve reviewed the pins and extracted as much information as possible, but some debris remains on certain pins which is proving difficult to remove.

As long as the paste isn’t touching any pins, it should work fine. Just give it a light blow if needed since you’ve been scraping it.
