Interesting. I initially considered GPU drivers affecting the CPU but didn't think about malware. I ran a scan with Norton, and it came back clean, though I'll keep monitoring further. Thanks!
I believe the cooler isn't up to the task. Maybe trying a different model could work better.
I didn't test Prime95 or AIDA64 for that purpose. Your Cinebench screenshot appears to reflect a single-core run, not the full CPU usage.
You only tested one core on that Cinebench run. Switching to multi-core performance showed a significant improvement—spikes became much quicker and memory usage dropped considerably.
The pump needs to be active, otherwise the CPU would hit TJ Max. It's almost there but still not quite done. What kind of water cooler are you using?
https://www.dell.com/community/Alienware...-p/5604525 Alienware x51 r3 cooler. It's an odd small cooler. I'll check for a refill port, but I assume I can at least pull the plate and refill. I ordered some Corsiar coolant.
I reckon it's low on coolant due to its age, which is why it spikes but doesn't quite overheat. There's enough coolant left to keep it from happening, at least at first.
I checked it and found minor corrosion on the edges. I cleaned it, refilled it, and tried running Cinebench. It only scored around 55, which wasn’t great. I thought it might be related to swapping the faulty GPU, but maybe moving the tower around was the real issue. Thanks a lot!
