I upgraded my Pentium G3260 and it worked fine! Unfortunately, while packing it, I accidentally dropped it onto the floor—only a corner got affected. Could this amount of damage render it unusable or even pose a risk for a motherboard to have this CPU inside? I was thinking about using it in a home computer and wanted your advice. Thank you!

Very gently you can try bending that corner back into flat position. There's no reason to not try it in a motherboard: if it works, it works.

I’m unsure if it will still function, but using it might be seen as elder abuse. In 2022, a dual core without hyperthreading is outdated. You’d pay around $7 for an i3 4150 with two cores and hyperthreading, while four-core i5 CPUs from the 4000 series cost about $15. It might be better to discard it and skip lunch for a day to avoid stressing your family. Please let me know if you’d like help finding a more suitable option for your budget.

Only by attempting can you be certain.
