I ended up messing up some solder residues, so my CPU looks a bit grimy. I’m unsure if that’s normal, and I need advice on how to fix it.

That appears to be a high-end processor with residual indium or factory solder remaining on the chip. It’s probably best to allow the liquid metal to remain in place for a short period before cleaning it away.

I'm trying the i9-10850K again tomorrow. Liquid metal was present for a day at least.
