CPU continues to run at higher speeds post-reset
Hey everyone, I attempted to boost my AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF using the 5-Way-Optimization on my Asus ROG Strix B450F Gaming II. Still, I kept seeing a black screen and the VGA light stayed on. After clearing Windows and updating BIOS, the clock speeds from the 5WO didn’t disappear. Anyone have any ideas? My specs are: CPU AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF, GPU MSI Radeon R9 390 Gaming 8GB, RAM Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB DDR-4.
It’s probably necessary to reset the CMOS. Without a rear IO clear CMOS and no surface mount option, take out the CMOS battery from the motherboard for 10-15 seconds.
Bios reset to default and CMOS clear differ, hence it's better to clear the CMOS.
No, I don't know if you've adjusted the CPU clock speed to match the 1600AF's base clock.
HWInfo64 states the clock speed, though it notes Task Manager often provides inaccurate results.
It's not uncommon for OC settings to stay unchanged even after switching motherboards.
