You can definitely swap out your CPU without removing the whole system. Just make sure the new one matches the socket type and voltage requirements.

It varies. You must ensure the processor matches, install the appropriate BIOS, remove any dust from the cooler, and put fresh thermal paste on it.

I usually refresh my bios for the newest release to back 9th gen. I’m considering an i5 9400f.

It’s just removing the old CPU and putting in the new one. This is similar to what’s demonstrated in that video. (P.S. unless you’re using a Celeron, Pentium or i3 right now, the 9400f wouldn’t count as an upgrade if your processor is different.)
