CPU Bottleneck in Fortnite?
I’m experiencing performance issues in Fortnite where frame rates drop significantly during combat, accompanied by low GPU usage (40-45%) and increased CPU utilization (50-60%). Outside of fights, the FPS typically ranges from 200-240 with 50-60% GPU usage and 50-55% CPU usage. My temperatures are normal (58-60°C for GPU, 60-63°C for CPU). The CPU consistently sits at 4% during idle.
I’ve tested other competitive games and observed that the GPU usage remains high (90-98%), which is puzzling for Fortnite. I've attempted solutions including driver reinstallation via DDU, switching to the Ultimate Performance power plan, and adjusting NVIDIA settings, but none have resolved the issue. Lowering the graphics preset to "high" provides a temporary improvement, but results in hitches and isn’t consistently effective.
My system specifications are as follows:
CPU: I7 7700 (non-k) from a prebuilt PC (4 years old), upgrade is not feasible due to budget constraints.
GPU: MSI 1660 Super Gaming X
PSU: Corsair TX-550M
RAM: Tforce Delta (8x2) DDR4 2400MHz
Motherboard: Biostar B250+
