Initially, I hope this message isn't too confusing. At the moment, my CPU (Ryzen 7800x3d) is operating around 80°C with a few browser tabs and several background apps. The cooler I’m using is a Corsair H100i Elite LCD xt AIO, set to "Balanced" speed, spinning at about 2,000 RPM on the fans and 2,600 RPM on the pump. My motherboard is a B650 Aorus Elite AX. The CPU hasn’t been overclocked or underclocked. Unfortunately, the radiator is positioned at the top of the case instead of the front, which means it doesn’t receive enough cool air. This seems to be due to an oversight during my purchase—forgetting to verify the GPU length and case space. Since I’ve been running it since July 2023, it’s always been a bit warmer, especially during gaming sessions. Seeing it reach 90-91°C in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is really concerning. I’m unsure if the issue lies with the CPU itself or the cooler, but something feels off. Also, I just cleaned the PC and reapplied thermal paste, even after noticing it hit 80°C out of caution. EDIT: The standoff screws on the motherboard weren’t tight enough, and the cooler wasn’t making good contact, now it’s around 67°C.
Yes, you took off the foil from the cooler. Was it a brand-new one? Have you updated your Bios yet?
I also considered the presence of the foil on the copper plate of the AIO right away.
I wouldn't call it foolish. Errors are possible for anyone. However, because you repositioned and repositioned the device several times, I assumed you avoided any issues. I don't have X3D CPUs, but my Ryzens typically run at around 40-45 max. Most of the time it stays between 30-40°C.
The cooler isn't functioning correctly or seems improperly set up—consider replacing it if feasible.
I mean there is a chance the cooler has some sort of problem but i doubt that. I also doubt that its not properly mounted now since I did it a few times. There is tho a interesting thread on another site that had very similar issues to mine.
