CPU and Motherboard Bundle
CPU and Motherboard Bundle
Hello everyone, I recently rebuilt my computer with numerous upgrades and ended up with plenty of spare parts. The first change I made was swapping out the CPU and motherboard several months before touching anything else, and I sold the old ones. Previously, it ran with an i5 6500 and an MSI B150A Gaming Pro Mobo. The items I currently have are: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1060 3gb G.Skill Ripjaws 2400mhz DDR4 NZXT Source 530 ATX Case Corsair CX600 Cooler Master Hyper 212. What I still need for a second build (for resale) is a motherboard and CPU. I’m seeking a Mobo/CPU pair under £150 that maintains good performance. I’m open to buying used or new as long as it fits the setup and stays within budget. Please let me know if you have any suggestions. For context, I’m based in the UK, so American sites aren’t suitable. If anyone can recommend some solid combos that work well with these parts without exceeding the budget, that would be greatly appreciated. Best regards, Millsy
This seems to be a mix of different prices and models. A solid budget CPU like the AMD Ryzen 3 3300X is about 120€ or £. The 3100X would likely be around 20€ cheaper, but it's hard to locate a good PCIe slot for under 50€.
Can we list each component separately? It might earn more than buying everything together, though it could sell more slowly.
To better explain my point, I might purchase a CPU/MOBO package for £50, but it would use DDR3 and wouldn’t fully utilize the GTX 1060’s capabilities. I’m aiming for top performance within my budget.
Get the most affordable AM4 platform you can locate, paired with either a 3100/3300X or a 1600AF/2600. Focus on options that fit your budget. I recently purchased a used 2600 board for around £80 a few months ago, but prices have risen slightly. The lower-end boards aren’t ideal, yet they won’t hurt performance, and even with mediocre VRM solutions, you can run one of the cheaper quad or 6-core chips. It’s better to invest in a £40 board and a solid CPU like a 3300X than waste £80 on a subpar motherboard that ends up slowing things down significantly.
