Hello, I am a new forum user and unsure of the appropriate section.

PC specifications:
Windows 10 Home
Intel i5-6400
Evga GTX 1060 6GB
16 GB RAM
2 TB WD HDD (200 GB remaining)
200 Mbps internet speed

I have experienced persistent performance issues for a year or two, characterized by high CPU and disk usage during normal tasks such as browsing Google Chrome. Specifically, I experience significant lag in games, particularly Fortnite, resulting in stuttering throughout sessions and infrequent texture loading delays. I play at 1920x1080 resolution with VSync enabled on high settings. I also observe similar performance issues when using medium settings, and I prefer not to play at low settings given my hardware specifications. Furthermore, software updates, such as Fortnite installations, frequently take an excessive amount of time (e.g., 90 minutes for a 300 MB update).

I am considering upgrading to an SSD to address these problems.

Please advise if any additional information would be helpful.

Perform a complete virus and malware scan, ensuring the SSD is suitable for operating systems and games while also clearing old temporary files, cookies, and defragmenting the HDD.

It identified 22 potential unwanted items, primarily associated with Amazon services, but without detecting any malware or virus.

I have resolved the issue. My PC performance has increased during idle periods, and currently, no components are operating at 100% capacity. However, when gaming, both the disk and CPU consistently reach or approach 100% utilization.

Yes, I can easily determine what is running at startup by examining the Task Manager.

Yes, but Glary could allow you to stop unwanted ones and delay others. Do not touch any Windows processes or the virus/audio one. You could post a picture of Glary, and I will help you.
