Cpu AIR cooler help needed
Cpu AIR cooler help needed
I’m looking for the top air cooler under $50. I was thinking of the Deepcool Lucifer V2, but it’s quite large and might not fit well with your setup. There are concerns about compatibility with your motherboard heat spreaders. The Cryorig H7 is a smaller option and looks better, though I’m unsure how it will perform. What’s the best choice in that price range? Any recommendations?
Can't you get the cryorig h5 if it suits your setup?
Enjoy all the advantages of the h7, such as no ram interference, but with a larger sink, a 140mm fan, and improved cooling.
Other options available are listed at the provided link. Remember to use low profile RAM with Noctua nh-d14 or d15.
Other options you can consider are these:
Deepcool lucifer V2
Cryorig h7
Phanteks ph tc12dx
All of them fit within your budget and look good. Which one would you prefer to choose?
From the three options, I would choose Phanteks ph tc12dx

It isn't very loud, offers a solid original design and reasonable temps under load.
I have an h7 and it runs great on my i5 4590, though I had to avoid overclocking temporarily. It maintains around 55°C with OC enabled. On my 280, the CPU and performance reach 72-73°C.
Madmatt30 is questioning the compatibility, saying it won't mate and won't even get close. They mention having some evidence from performance and cooling benchmarks that Phanteks leads by 5-10C under load. They link to several reviews and note that TC12DX wins despite costing about $5 more. The noise level is higher but not significantly so, the tower is smaller and more compact (120mm vs 140mm), and it reaches closer to the top PCI-E Express slot. It also cools better. They recommend checking before recommending another cooler.
