Aim for a reliable setup that can handle 1440p for several years. Plan to expand to 4K eventually. The machine is mainly for gaming and light office tasks, with moderate usage.

The 5000 series is arriving soon, making it a great time to secure one as a way to future-proof your setup. But I wonder if you really need an upgrade. Your CPU is only a year old, and you might not be getting the performance you’d expect from the 3080, or maybe you just feel the urge to upgrade simply because you’ve got a new powerful GPU.

I concur with @tikker, the 5000 series is a solid option (I’m choosing it) and should remain functional well beyond three years! I’ve owned an i7 4790 for five years and am planning an upgrade now.
