CPU activity spikes in Valorant following the CMOS reset.
I possess an i5-3470, 16GB DDR3 1600MHz memory, a Radeon R7 360 2GB GPU. During my setup, I replaced both components and restarted the system. After that, BIOS kept issuing errors, and it seemed one RAM module wasn’t recognized. After resetting CMOS, everything worked fine when I powered on again. However, since then CPU usage during Valorant has risen significantly—especially at 1080p 90fps with a 75Hz monitor. Previously it stayed around 40-60%, even at 720p60, but now it consistently hits 80% or more. Streaming kept it near 720p60, yet the CPU stayed high (60-90%). When I enabled VSync to cap FPS at 75, the issue persisted. I’m wondering if another CMOS reset is needed, or if adjusting BIOS settings could help. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I also observed that following the CMOS reset, when I open my device manager, my Intel GPU appears only as Intel HD Graphics instead of the expected Intel HD Graphics 2500.
