Hello everyone, as mentioned in the title "low CPU usage on demanding game," I've already raised this topic several times in this forum, but I wanted to discuss it myself because we have different systems.
My PC specifications are:
- CPU: Ryzen 5 2600
- GPU: RX 5700 XT Red Dragon
- RAM: G.Skill TridentZ DDR4 3600Mhz 16GB (2x8)
- Storage: Adata SX8200 pro 1TB, Toshiba 2TB (from old PC)
- Motherboard: Gigabyte B450i Aorus Pro Wifi
- PSU: FSP Dagger pro 650W
- CPU cooler: ID Cooling IS 50
- Case: Silverstone SG13
I assembled this system in March 2022. I haven't played any games on it, except for storing files, watching 4K videos, and running a personal server. Since January, I've become fixated on several simulation games like ETS2, ATS, TSW, and Beamng Drive (there are many more, but I usually play TSW). I purchased two versions of TSW—first and TSW3—and never experienced any issues with it on ultra settings. However, after switching to TSW3, I noticed the PC would shut down frequently. I searched forums for solutions, tried cleaning the drivers using AMD cleanup, but that didn't help. After reinstalling the driver, games would crash twice. (Unreal Engine reporter indicated instability.)
I attempted to enable metric overlay during gameplay, but my CPU only managed 20-30% utilization, while the GPU ran at 45-60%, resulting in an FPS of about 45-55. I also struggled with BIOS settings because I couldn't enable XMP profiles, though it seemed to resolve the issue. I once downloaded Ryzen Master, but there was one instance where my PC behaved oddly, so I removed it. Updating the chipset didn't fix the FPS problems for other games either. Since this PC isn't built by me, I don't know how they achieved such performance. It comes with Windows 10 Pro pre-installed.
On other users' systems, I've seen people using RX 5700 XT and Ryzen 5 3600 achieving around 90 FPS on ultra settings without any drop, even during screen recording, and this also worked for other titles.
