I’m getting impatient waiting for the Ryzen 3 3300X and the b550 motherboard. I’m thinking about just getting a higher end b450 board, but I wouldn’t know which processor to get. So I have two questions: how bad of an idea would it be me to buy for the b450 and another processor instead? And if it’s not that bad of an idea, what processor (any brand) would not be too expensive (compared to the 3300x) but would have the same (or better performance)? I am located in the US. Thanks for any help in advance!

It costs between $40 and $60 more than the standard model and offers six processing units along with twelve threads.

The 3300X works well for gaming, but for video editing or multithreaded work it might be better to use the 1600AF. For a powerful 6-core/12-thread processor that outperforms the 1600AF, consider the 3600. If you need more than what the 1600AF offers, the other person recommended the 3600 as a solid choice.
