Consider the value of purchasing a cPanel license versus using secure hosting from reputable companies. Your current internet speed is 23.18 Mbps download and 23.88 Mbps upload.

It might be simpler to opt for a VPS instead.

1. Where is it located?
2. Is there cPanel included? I’m not keen on managing it via the command line, but I could if necessary.
3. I need a service that safeguards my data.

They operate without a standard HTTPS homepage, but their login interface uses HTTPS and continues securely thereafter. CPanel requires a $10 subscription, which I’ve relied on for my VPS needs. My institution uses them for web hosting, while I depend on them for Teamspeak and critical offsite backups. Available options include OpenVZ or KVM, with three server locations: New York, New Jersey, and Los Angeles. Setup supports up to 16 CPU cores, 16GB RAM, 400GB storage, and a 16TB data cap. You can select from CentOS, Debian, Fedora, Scientific, OpenSuSe, Ubuntu Server, or Windows (likely Windows Server 2012 R2). They offer CPanel or Direct Admin, and SSD storage is available. The most affordable model is a $6 server featuring 1 core, 1GB RAM, 25GB storage, and a TB transfer limit. A promotional code allows a one-time charge of just 1 penny for the first month before regular pricing applies.

It's interesting to consider using Google Fiber internet for your server. Could this increase the risk of hacking? P.S. Looking into it right now sounds like a good idea.

You might want to check out the 000webhost free plan—it includes cPanel, which is fine. It's best suited for testing and similar tasks.

With Google Fiber in place, the odds of issues like DDOS attacks or someone exposing your data wouldn't change. It's just a service provider; the popularity of the site you run affects those chances. Hosting a small private blog with limited access would mean lower hack risks. If your site matches the scale of big names like the NYTimes, you'd face more attempts.

EDIT: lol Interserver uses a Xeon 5130. That setup feels as outdated as my generation's 5 HP servers from 2009.

EDIT 2: The 5130 was launched in Q2 2006, using 65nm tech. It's considered old—costing around $142 a month to run. The chip itself can be found for $20-50 on eBay, which I purchased once.

You need a way to resolve website problems quickly without relying on the hosting provider.
