I don't believe this unless the SSD matches the HDD in size exactly. I'd suggest a clean installation instead, remove all debris.

I would decline. However, you might format the SSD ahead of time and assign a letter to it. Still, only certain programs will remain functional. They won’t appear in your start menu or in the add/remove programs section because Windows doesn’t recognize them.
