Could the updated router enhance your internet performance?
New gigaclear fiber-optics are being installed but won’t be ready until 2021. No specific month was given, so it seems to be an older setup. I think the interference and signal issues might come from outdated cables, not just the speed claim of 11 MBps. My ISP confirmed it was only 11 MBps, and since I’m not paying for internet, my parents probably didn’t need it. Thanks for the clarification—it really helped!
It seems you're experiencing consistent performance until the updated lines are implemented. Appreciate the details!
Consider the distance limitations of DSL. The farther from the local exchange or remote server, performance decreases. In rural regions, especially in the US, internet speeds are often limited to no wired connections. New infrastructure might not be viable. Profitability is low in these areas, which means providers typically avoid them.
I'm in the uk so rural may have a different meaning, I am around 2 miles fr the nearest village but around 38 miles the nearest city, I'm surrounded by farms with a few other houses, from my understanding the town near me has generally good speeds but that's had a lot of work done prior to me moving here about 4 years ago
Rural areas in the US offer wide stretches of open space between homes. DSL, coax, and fiber all refer to the same technology. No matter your location, the key difference lies in the UK and EU being more collectivist than the US. Government involvement often shapes these services to benefit residents. In reality, DSL connections are more limited and slower than coax or fiber, especially as the distance increases.
