I recently updated my PC with a fresh Windows 10 version after facing numerous strange problems with Windows not identifying certain drives or encountering registry issues. During the previous installation, my 12tb media HDD was shared over the network publicly, allowing others to view and modify it or stream content from there without using Plex. Now, on this new setup, I’m struggling to re-enable public sharing of the same folder. I can’t access it without being asked for login details, even though I changed ownership in advanced security settings to myself and granted full control. I also attempted to share a brand-new formatted drive on the network, but still faced access restrictions. My current network configuration includes disabling the firewall, which seems to be helping—yet when connecting from another device, I’m prompted for credentials. My goal is simply for the drive to remain publicly accessible so anyone on the local network can use it without extra authentication. Thanks for reading this update.

You're asking about file sharing options and network access issues. It seems your firewall is off, but you're still facing problems accessing your PC from other Windows 10 devices. The troubleshooter indicates permission issues with your account, even though you have full access in the share and security tabs.

I've made further adjustments to the previous version. You're still experiencing the same problem, so let's explore additional solutions or details.

I've checked sharing other folders and drives, as well as accessing the PC from different devices. In services, I confirmed the necessary components were active: Function Discovery Provider Host, Resource Publication, SSDP Discovery, and UPnP Device Host. I ensured visibility of my shares through /localhost/ and granted permissions for both the target folder and test folders. Despite these steps, I still can't see my PC on any networked devices and require a user account to manually enter /NOLAN-PC/. The issue remains unresolved, and I'm seeking further assistance.
