One of my friends mentioned that turning on intel speedstep during CPU overclocking might lead to overvolting. Is this accurate? Speedstep actually helped resolve a performance problem, wouldn't it?

It might be useful to request some proof. Usually speedstep reduces voltages instead of increasing them.

Someone I know mentioned that turning on intel speedstep while overclocking the CPU might lead to overvolting. Is that accurate?
Speedstep could resolve a performance problem, but it would be bad if true.

That matches my understanding—it felt unusual since it’s meant to decrease values like you mentioned.

Deniedstingray shared with me that someone mentioned having intel speedstep turned on while overclocking the CPU might lead to overvolting. Is that accurate?
Speedstep apparently resolved a performance problem, which would be bad if this is correct.
In similar situations, I usually ask for references or details from people who know.
That’s generally what I do, but this person showed me how to overclock, so I wasn’t sure.
Thanks for your response—I really value it.

Speedstep actually resolved a performance problem, which would be bad if it were wrong.
Actually, you should seek better advice.
Intel Speed Step adjusts the clock multiplier and voltage for each core individually. Previously, changing both at once caused delays, but newer designs (like Haswell) separate these changes, minimizing those pauses.
