Could insufficient memory be leading to poor computer performance?
Hello.
I’m experiencing performance issues with my recently purchased computer.
My system specifications are: ASRock H310M (compatible with up to 2666MHz DDR4), Intel i3-9100f at 3.5GHz, Asus RX 580 with 4GB of VRAM (overclocked), 8GB of DDR4 RAM at 2400MHz (running in single-channel mode), Crucial MX500 256GB, and a separate Sandisk 256GB SSD. I am running Windows 10 Pro.
Comparing my frame rates to benchmark tests on YouTube, my system is lagging significantly – approximately 20% below expectations. The software has been freshly installed, and the hard drives are relatively clean. What could be causing this slow performance? Is the RAM a potential factor?
Using smaller amounts of dedicated memory can noticeably affect how well games run.
You should seriously consider adding another 8 gigabytes of RAM. The game’s stated requirement is misleading; in my opinion, 16 gigabytes is truly the absolute lowest you should aim for, and it’s always best to exceed the suggested amount.
Here’s a revised version:
“This action significantly reduces the amount of data your system can access at once, leading to a substantial drop in speed – consequently, single-channel RAM tests are rarely conducted. Furthermore, 8 gigabytes is becoming increasingly insufficient; modern 64-bit games quickly consume this entire amount within a short time. Sixteen gigabytes is rapidly becoming the standard requirement. Utilizing two identical 8GB modules will noticeably improve performance.”
I've been considering this recently. I haven’t located a completely identical, high-quality GOODRAM RAM module. The variation in my current order is that the new stick I received is operating at 2400MHz (my existing RAM stick runs at 2133MHz, overclocked to 2400MHz with a voltage of 1.2V). I concur wholeheartedly. Previously, RAM was considerably more costly, but currently, 16GB is a reasonable price (I purchased a second stick for 130PLN, approximately $34, or €30).
