Could increasing the clock speed improve your situation?
Problem: The RAM I ordered is 800 MHz. The Q6700 FSB is 1066, but the website says it has a 1066 FSB. I can switch between two sticks in turns, but with three or four sticks in fan mode it runs smoothly without any noise, unlike when using one or two sticks. I’ve updated the BIOS.
What I need: Can I increase the DRAM frequency so the RAM works better with my system, or should I lower the CPU’s FSB? The sticks are 2GB each, a PNY brand, 64B0QJTHE-HS. If I have any mistakes, let me know—I’m new to this and don’t want to buy 1066 MHz RAM.
