I acquired a build rig some time ago and was thinking about whether I could overclock the GPU.

A decent 500W power supply is now priced similarly to a GTX 960. Investing heavily for only slight gains in FPS isn't wise. Consider adding RAM for a faster improvement. If possible, wait until you can afford a new GPU and PSU.

Yes, it's possible to boost your GPU's performance. You can obtain the overclocking tools directly from your GPU maker. If they don't offer them, alternatives like MSI AfterBurner or Asus GPUTweak are available. For those who prefer not to handle overclocking themselves, these programs include automatic overclock features. Enjoy!

I checked an energy consumption site and found that with a 375W PSU, it's affordable. A 350W unit might pose some problems if you try to overclock.

Your motherboard doesn't allow CPU overclocking, but you can boost your GPU's performance. The top choice for GPU overclocking is MSI afterburner.

I checked an energy consumption site and found my PSU is affordable. Would overclocking to 350W cause any problems? Probably not, though it might be risky. GPUs already use a lot of power when overclocked, leaving little room for extra boosts. This could lead to instability like random shutdowns. Still, don’t stress too much about your current setup. Those websites show maximum usage, which doesn’t reflect real-world performance. Overclocking is beneficial but not essential.

The change would be almost nonexistent, and it wouldn't significantly improve performance on the GTX 960.

A decent 500W power supply today costs as much as a GTX 960. Investing heavily for just a few extra frames isn't worth it. Consider adding RAM for a faster performance instead. If you're serious, wait until you can afford a new GPU and PSU.
