I possess a single slot with damage and the software on the board fails to proceed beyond the initial PC setup. The connections are now exposed without any covering. The motherboard model is MSI X99A Gaming 9 ACK.

Does the error indicate the issue is with the slot? If yes, then your conclusion is correct. I think it's likely, as a faulty slot might stop a POST from finishing.
