Couch Gaming Setup
Couch Gaming Setup
I am setting up a couch configuration and needed some advice. I have a Logitech G613 and G903 mouse and keyboard, along with a Coolermaster wrist rest and a steel series small mouse mat. All I’ve done so far is place them on a large wooden surface. My main issue is comfort. The mouse mat feels a bit tight against the wood. I’m wondering if there are other ways to improve it without sanding. Also, the wooden slab is pressing against my legs.
Consider examining it a bit more smoothly; plastic or polished wood would probably be a better choice if you're aiming for that direction.
I have a recliner positioned on the arms, but it doesn’t reach me. It’s just a small piece of 1/2 plywood. I increased its width slightly, sanded it down, and applied a clear coat using some poly wipe.
I purchased a large mouse pad and trimmed it to fit the side of the board. I also positioned it so it hangs a bit over the edge toward me for a softer feel.
The board measures approximately 36 inches by 20 inches.
If I were moving it to the couch, I’d place blocks under the board to prevent it from resting on my legs. The ideal height would be around 6 to 8 inches, depending on your leg length and the couch’s firmness.
I can cut this material in a woodshop easily, but if you need assistance, a local lumberyard or home improvement store can handle the cuts—just buy a full sheet and keep what you don’t require.
