You just received the Windows 10 update, which made it hard for you because the Cortana search bar switched from a dark to a bright white color—this is really distracting. You tried adjusting settings but couldn’t find a solution. Changing the theme back to dark works, but it makes the app backgrounds black, which isn’t ideal. This update is starting to annoy you a lot.

The white side shows what it appears to be, while the dark side represents its intended appearance.

It seems strange... you might try right-clicking on her and letting her disappear if needed.

I don’t really rely on her for timing tasks, so it seems odd without her.

Consider adjusting your region settings to an area without Cortana support, such as the Isle of Man or Yemen. After logging out and back in, revert the setting to your real location and log in again. It may seem unusual, but this should resolve the issue.

It really sounds like that passage is wordy, and it seems unnecessary given the recent update. I think I’ll just wait for them to fix it in the next patch. For now, I’ll stick with the dark theme—it helps with my OCD. Thanks for the tip!

Trust the attempt. If it fails, you've only lost five minutes. If it works, you'll avoid weeks of OCD stress. This isn't a Windows settings problem—it might relate to a connection with Microsoft servers. Changing your location triggers a refresh.

I realize now, it's been a while since I added an SSD to my laptop, yet it functioned properly. Appreciate the assistance—seems like updates often trigger unexpected issues.
