Through some research it appears your ASRock X99 Extreme 4 is experiencing trouble turning on the RGB lights on the RAM sticks. Previous discussions suggest Corsair requires SPD Write enabled in the BIOS, though this option isn’t available for the X99 model. Several users recommend checking for a newer BIOS version, but I’m hesitant to risk my CPU overclocking without trying it. I plan to reach out to Corsair support tomorrow to check if an older firmware update exists that could resolve the problem. Essentially, I’m looking for a definitive solution to this RGB issue. Sometimes I see the RAM in device info but can’t access it because of a red flag in the device settings. Am I really stuck? Will the same problem persist when switching to a X299 board later?
Make sure you're using the most recent version of iCUE and that you've reinstalled it if needed.
Yeah I've deleted all the files manually and done a clean install after a restart and the issue persists. It seems to be a compatiblity issue between icue ram wanting to access SPD write in the bios to allow the RGB profile to be stored in the ram and requires core level permissions to do so that the x99 bios settings don't allow I think, unlike the newer mobos. Not sure if an earlier firmware update has a workaround or does it differently. I'll find out when I call this morning.
