You're looking for thermal paste options this weekend. Amazon's shipping isn't fast enough for your location, so you're considering local stores and different brands. Best Buy has Corsair products like TM30, XTM50, and XTM70 available at various prices. XTM70 seems to be a strong choice, but TM30 and XTM50 are also worth checking. Since you're not overclocking, the extra cost for XTM70 might be justified. All options can work well depending on your needs.

It depends on the amount of extra you'd like for everyone, but knowing other thermal paste choices along with prices would be helpful.

TM30 costs $7.99, XTM50 is $14.99, and XTM70 is $19.99. The nearby shop only carries one brand of thermal paste.

Only 30 works. 50 feels more like marketing, but it’s actually a larger amount, which is the main contrast in my feedback. 70 offers a middle ground and includes applicators and cleaning wipes. I wouldn’t suggest 50 or 70 for systems with fewer than five CPUs.

And if you assume "cleaning wipes" is something special you might really need, this also applies. You don’t have to stick to a specific brand—any alcohol swab with at least 70% alcohol works. Alternatively, use a paper towel soaked in 70% or higher isopropyl alcohol. The higher the percentage, the quicker it dries.

Even when purchasing a single-time application, there are limited options to avoid issues with any of the Corsair pastes. The temperature variation between a top-performing and standard paste might be around 3°C at most.

This relies heavily on how well the CPU connects to the cooler. For instance, with the contact frame on my socket 1700 I’m getting solid contact. That indicates minimal paste between the CPU and cooler. Therefore paste quality has little impact. On the other hand, without a contact frame... Edited April 19, 2024 by leclod

Sure, the loading system and application method are also crucial. It's hard to pinpoint the single best approach since the right amount of paste matters more than any one technique. Too little affects temperature control, while too much creates a messy buildup near the sensors.

Up to 5C performance at cooler temperatures. Used a thermal right LGA1700 unit.
