Corsair 3600MHz identified as 2133MHz
Hello everyone, welcome to my first update here. I apologize if I’m not familiar with all the requirements for my 64GB Corsair 3600MHz RAM upgrade. Previously, I used Corsair’s Dominator Platinum with 32GB at 3200MHz, which performed perfectly. Now I’m running the new setup, but I encountered a few issues. After changing to 2133MHz, my PC started up and booted into Windows, though the RAM is now set to 2133MHz as default. I’ve enabled DOCP and XMP in BIOS, but nothing changed. Both CPU-Z and Task Manager display the speed as 2133MHz. I’ve tried changing it to 3600MHz and 2933MHz manually, but it still won’t post. My specs are: CPU – Ryzen 7 5800X, GPU – Radeon RX 6950XT, RAM – Corsair 4 x 16GB @3600MHz, PSU – 850W 80+ Gold, OS – Windows 11 64-bit. Storage includes a 1TB Samsung EVO drive and a 4TB HDD (name forgotten). The BIOS is up to date. Any suggestions?
The memory controller on the Ryzen 5000 seems to underperform compared to Intel options. Using two 3600 MHz sticks usually functions, but having four 3200 MHz sticks puts a lot of strain on the controller. You might want to increase the SoC and memory voltages slightly to test, though it suggests your CPU may not have a strong controller. I use a 5900X in my daily driver (Windows 10 Pro) with four 3200 MHz sticks and it works well. You could also turn on XMP in BIOS and set the speed to 3200 manually to see if that helps. You won’t get the full speed, but it’s better than JEDEC (2133). The quality of your motherboard can also influence the achievable speeds.
Knowing the specific brand and model of your motherboard is helpful.
