Hello everyone. I hope everything is okay with you all. I’m here seeking assistance. Right now I’m stuck in lockdown due to the virus. My job is construction work, so I can’t get to it. I’ve paid my rent but couldn’t cover my prepaid phone bill. I rely on that connection to stay online—Netflix, YouTube, games, porn, local fake news. The only Wi-Fi nearby is from Xfinity, but the signal is weak at just 12%. That means I can only do text-based tasks. My gaming isn’t working either. I own a Killer 1535 console, which is great. But I need a USB Wi-Fi adapter with an external antenna or a way to connect one. Or maybe a USB stick that supports Wi-Fi, even if it’s a bit of a hack. A long female cord would be ideal, and ideally it should work in monitor mode. I’m really frustrated and feel like a beginner. I think someone might have an old project lying around or just kept it for a while. I only have $6 for the next two weeks until my taxes or stimulus check arrives. I live alone in a small 125 sqft cabin, got food and a tablet for the next three weeks, no gas needed. I’m tired of playing GTA Offline and Minesweeper. The real perk is the adapter could help with a DIY project—like setting up a 1-mile Yagi. That’s something I can wait on. Right now I just need to survive on the basics. I get it if you were asking for a graphics card or CPU, but I’m just looking for a second-hand or dusty one. They’re as common as a USB 32GB stick. I don’t need anything fancy—just a French fry from the bottom of the bag.
I feel a bit like you too. I'm in a similar situation, but it seems more severe. In my city, people aren't even allowed to leave their homes. There are cameras everywhere, and anyone caught will face jail time after the lockdown ends—probably around two years. Food is running out, and the next ration date is uncertain. Utilities like electricity, water, and phone bills are paused, which is a relief, but food is scarce. Since you can't leave, only essentials can enter or exit. Electronics stores are closed, deliveries stopped, and this has been ongoing since March 9th. Because of the lack of entertainment, I've actually learned Spanish!
