They are indeed quite uncommon. That’s probably why I’ve never come across any available for sale.
It's been over ten years now, so the survivors won't be dying anytime soon—unless you intentionally destroy them with a 2.6v+ boost or something like that. I think the 775 chip can actually handle up to 3.2v, and even my supposedly voltage-tolerant Samsung board would stop working at that level. I won't test it because the boards are already gone, and I still need this thing for testing since it's a Samsung stick that works with most things.
I really enjoy my Rampage Formula X48. I earned a spot in the class (air cooled) during Forum Warz 07, probably. It's a DDR2 model. The DDR3 release seemed to be about four months later, I believe. I regularly ran 550FSB on it. After 603, things started to go wrong. I don’t have my E8600 ES anymore—it was taken along with my P5KD-WiFi. I still have a Xeon X3360, but 475 is essentially the only option for daily tasks.
Lol, it's unclear when those things happened. Maybe I haven't even been born yet or I was just a baby then. Don't think I recall anything before 2010. How did they manage to steal them? If anyone tried, it must have been before 2010 when 775 was still in the picture. How do you get an e8600 sample? I haven't seen any Es sold here in India, just some random X68000 models for 20 dollars.
Of course I requested it back; he claimed it was stolen, but I was certain he had it. I’m hoping it was worth the effort for him. Regarding the CPUs, no—this chance appeared and I seized it. My cherished x5690 was an ES model.
