I recently upgraded my PC from a 3800xt to the 5950x. I use a single water cooler loop for both CPU and GPU, with a 240mm and a 360mm radiator and five fans. My GPU has a full waterblock while the CPU uses a nickel clad copper block. I haven’t experienced any problems with the 3800xt, but the 5950x seems to have issues. I’ve removed the blocks twice and re-settled them using three different types of paste. Temperatures stay around 80°C for most cores during full load, while cores 0 through 15 hover near 70°C. This pattern matches what I expected if the cores were placed centrally and cooler ones on the outside. It also makes sense if the CPU cooler wasn’t perfectly flat but slightly concave. Could anyone confirm how the cores are arranged on these chips? My next challenge is with Boink, a distributed computing tool that uses idle CPU/GPU cycles for tasks like compiling or processing. This keeps my CPU busy constantly. It wasn’t an issue with the 3800xt, but now streaming becomes choppy if I leave the mouse and keyboard idle for a while. When I shake it, it stabilizes again. It feels like something enters sleep mode after a short period of inactivity, though I can spot what’s causing this. My system is set to Performance, USB, BT, and all peripherals stay on. I’ve cleaned out the old 3800xt drivers in Device Manager, reinstalled the chipset drivers, and checked every power setting—still nothing works. EDIT: The stuttering issue has cleared after a few restarts, but temperatures remain problematic. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Install RAM sticks in slots 2 and 4 starting from your CPU. Activate XMP profile to fix the clock issues you noticed.
