I want to replace the main part of my machine and sell what I have now.

I’m planning to upgrade to an AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, MOBO and RAM, but I hope to retain the rest unchanged.
I usually overclock the CPU, but with the new processor it might be tricky. My main goal is gaming at 2k frames per second.
Do you have any advice? Are there concerns about my existing cooler and case working with the new core?
This setup would enable fitting a RTX 4080 Super with 16GB RAM, which is set to launch soon. The graphics card will overpower the 3080 and beyond.

If the RMx750 functions properly and remains under warranty, you don't need to replace it. It operates smoothly with the 3080 without any issues.

I'm not sure if I'd receive a 4080. It's only about 50% quicker than the 3080 for another 1000 dollars plus taxes. I'd prefer to wait for 5000 series graphics cards before spending that amount, particularly given he's already invested at least 700 dollars in the 3080 over the past 3.5 years. My 3080 and a 5800X3D perform well in most games at 1440p, except for Cyberpunk with maximum settings and ray tracing, where Quality DLSS helps. With those configurations I still achieve around 65-75 fps depending on the situation.
You're thinking about keeping the 3080 for another year or two, seems okay. Likely to upgrade the PSU along with the GPU when a graphics-heavy game is released. Thanks for your feedback, I'll check out those options. Do you have any suggestions for a high-end board?
Why invest in the premium board? The Riptide model above offers PCIe 5.0 SSD support, Wi-Fi 6E, adequate VRMs for a 105W CPU, and all required I/O ports for everyday use. Consider X670E boards only if you need additional PCIe lanes and missing I/O; otherwise, you're wasting money on the board.
I had an asrock board before and had to return two of them. Also reading reviews, that board doesn't offer great reliability.
My current board had problems with the LAN port when it first arrived, but otherwise it worked well, just like its predecessor. I've noticed issues with the motherboard can be frustrating.
I'm just aiming to prevent any similar problems.
As simple as it sounds, I'm hoping to get at least four of the fastest USB ports at the back and decent built-in sound.
Most mid to high-end B650 B650E boards meet your needs. The X670E is priced near or above 300 USD. If you don't prefer Asrock, consider the Gigabyte Aorus Elite, Asus Strix, or MSI Edge B650.
