Core multiplier wasn't applied
Hello everyone,
I attempted to overclock my PC by raising the bus speed from 100 to 103 and then the multiplier from 34 to 36. When I opened CPU-Z, it displayed the updated bus speed but the multiplier remained at 34. After restarting, I checked the BIOS again and found it still set to 36.
My questions:
Does CPU-Z reflect the accurate multiplier?
Is the multiplier fixed internally? If not, why isn’t it updating in CPU-Z?
Thanks!
Sorry, I overlooked that detail.
Model: ECS A55F2-M3
Processor: A4-5300 with Radeon HD 7480D
Memory: 4GB DDR3 at 1333Mhz
What occurred when I increased the bus speed?
I’m not sure. I checked the core speed in cpu-z. Bus speed should also adjust frequency (bus x multiplier = core speed), but I’m uncertain if that affects RAM speeds or other parts, similar to what happens on a sandy/ivy bridge or with Haswell cores like i5/i7. I believe it does.
Edit - after a brief search, it seems you might be able to slightly raise the bus speed, though going too high could cause issues.
