Hello everyone,
I attempted to overclock my PC by raising the bus speed from 100 to 103 and then the multiplier from 34 to 36. When I opened CPU-Z, it displayed the updated bus speed but the multiplier remained at 34. After restarting, I checked the BIOS again and found it still set to 36.

My questions:
Does CPU-Z reflect the accurate multiplier?
Is the multiplier fixed internally? If not, why isn’t it updating in CPU-Z?
Thanks!

Miguel010 updated his status and confirmed he reached 106 now with 3600Mhz using x34 multiplier. The BIOS setting was changed to x36 but had no impact. It seems the stability at 106 bus speed is promising, though he's also overclocking his RAM.

they don't seem possible to push beyond their current limits, at least based on what I know

When you raised the bus speed, it affected the situation.

What occurred when I increased the bus speed?
I’m not sure. I checked the core speed in cpu-z. Bus speed should also adjust frequency (bus x multiplier = core speed), but I’m uncertain if that affects RAM speeds or other parts, similar to what happens on a sandy/ivy bridge or with Haswell cores like i5/i7. I believe it does.
Edit - after a brief search, it seems you might be able to slightly raise the bus speed, though going too high could cause issues.

I went up from 103 to 106 and maintained 3600Mhz with x34 multiplier. The BIOS setting changed to x36 but didn't make a difference ;_;
